Upgrade Works Start At The Basin
Students at The Basin Primary School will soon have the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve thanks to a $7.2 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government.
Education Minister James Merlino today turned the first sod on the $5.2 million Stage 1 of the project to provide the school with new classrooms, physical education and administration facilities.
A further $2 million has been allocated to relocate The Basin Community House, from its current site onto school grounds.
The Basin Community House is a not-for-profit organisation providing a diverse range of services to the community including adult education, recreational courses and community support groups.
The construction of the new school buildings and the relocation of the Community House are expected to be completed during the second half of next year.
The project is part of a $2.5 billion investment by the Labor Government in the past three Budgets to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,000 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5000 construction jobs for Victorians.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
