Local sports clubs will now have access to a new pavilion, complete with community meeting areas in Monbulk.

Deputy Premier James Merlino today joined community members to officially open the newly completed Monbulk Community Sporting Pavilion.

The $3.8 million project received $1 million from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and $600,000 from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The Monbulk Community and Sports Pavilion will assist more girls and women to participate in football and sports, welcoming all ages, abilities and genders. The facility includes:

  • A community gathering space
  • change room facilities
  • showers and amenities
  • umpire change facilities
  • a gymnasium
  • first aid/training room
  • kitchen and canteen facilities
  • storage rooms
  • a covered spectator viewing area.

Minister Merlino congratulated the Yarra Ranges Council and the community for raising substantial funding, which contributed towards the $3.8 million project. The Growing Suburbs Fund supports Melbourne’s interface Councils respond to the pressures of growth on community facilities by bringing forward the delivery of projects that improve amenity, liveability and resilience in the outer suburbs.
