Students from across Monbulk can find out more about the free courses being offered by Box Hill Institute at its Lilydale Lakeside campus Open Day on Sunday September 16 from 10am to 3pm.

Member for Monbulk James Merlino encouraged anyone looking to gain new skills to get a job or advance their career to attend the Open Day and learn more about the opportunities available under the Andrews Labor Government’s Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative

The former Liberal Government neglected our TAFEs, forcing the closure of campuses, including Lilydale which closed its doors in June 2013.

It took a Labor Government to reopen it.

The Labor Government’s $172 million Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative is set to play a key role delivering the workplace skills needed for Victoria’s unprecedented building boom of road and rail projects, new schools and hospitals, as well as increased support for Victorians living with disability and historic action to curb family violence.

From the beginning of 2019, Labor’s Free TAFE for Priority Courses will enable eligible students to undertake quality, accredited TAFE training that gives them the skills they need to secure real jobs.

The Andrews Labor Government is also investing an additional $303.8 million to deliver more than 30,000 additional training places at TAFEs, Learn Local Organisations and private training organisations.

The Box Hill Institute Lilydale Lakeside Campus is located at Jarlo Drive, Lilydale.

People who can’t make the Open Day can find out more about Free TAFE, training courses and career pathways at Box Hill Institutes Skills and Jobs Centre. You can contact the Box Hill Institute Skills and Jobs Centre on 8892 1370 or in person at 30-40 John Street, Lilydale.

Based in TAFEs across Victoria, Labor’s Skills and Jobs Centres provide expert advice on training and employment opportunities and also engage with local industries to ensure they meet the needs of their local communities and employers.
