The Andrews Labor Government’s first Education State Budget is rebuilding schools in Geelong and giving its students the best start in life. Minister for Education, James Merlino, today visited Geelong to officially announce a total of $23 million for three schools, secured in the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.
The Andrews Labor Government is putting the health of Victorian families first, investing an extra $1.38 billion in our hospitals, ambulances and health programs. The 2015-16 Victorian Budget provides hospitals across Victoria with additional funding to help reduce waiting times in emergency departments and elective surgery lists.
The Monbulk community will receive a major boost, with the Andrews Labor Government announcing $1.32 million in safety improvements as part of the 2015-16 Victorian Budget. Member for Monbulk, James Merlino welcomed the announcement that will see road resurfacing and a school speed limit change.
The 2015-16 Victorian Budget invests almost $3.3 billion in Victoria’s education system for its 900,000 students – the single biggest boost of additional funding in Victoria’s history. For the first time, the Budget will meet Gonski funding levels in 2015, 2016 and 2017, because all kids deserve the best start, no matter their background.
Part of the former Olinda Golf Course could become home to a new sports oval and dog walking area, with discussions being held between Parks Victoria, Yarra Ranges Council and the community over the site’s future.
