Sherbrooke Community School: new building
On Monday I was delighted to officially open Sherbrooke Community School’s outstanding new primary building or, as it has already been affectionately nicknamed, ‘little land’. This new building, constructed through the federal Labor government’s Building the Education Revolution program, has transformed primary education at this terrific P-12 school. The BER was an important component of the federal government’s $42 billion economic stimulus plan to boost economic activity and support jobs as the nation dealt with the global financial crisis. It provided a massive boost to education that will leave a positive legacy for decades.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the primary students at Sherbrooke today enjoy the best facilities and educational opportunities in the history of the school.
I know principal Anne Broadribb, the teachers and students are delighted with the new building and the beautiful butterfly garden. At the opening we were also delighted to be entertained by some of the school’s talented singers. Tonight Sherbrooke is launching the latest CD of 14 original songs titled The Journey. Congratulations to music teacher Luciano Menolascina and his talented students on a great achievement.
