Work begins on all ages Belgrave Community Hub
Work has officially begun on the Belgrave Community Hub thanks to a $723,000 boost from the Andrews Labor Government.
Representing Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins, Member for Monbulk James Merlino said the additional boost means the project can now be completed in its entirety and will provide the community with the facilities and services they need.
The Belgrave Community Hub will provide critical services for the local community and surrounding suburbs, including community health, emergency relief, early years, youth services and aged care services.
The purpose built facility will contain multi-purpose rooms, consulting rooms, office accommodation, kitchen, outside play space, car parking and gardens.
It will support the community garden, playground, public art, seating, decking and pathways connecting the local community spaces.
The Labor Government recognises that councils like Yarra Ranges are facing a number of challenges due to its population growth. The facility caters to the needs of the Yarra Ranges, which has a young population (Approximately 20% are aged between 5 and 17 years) and an ageing population.
Through the Interface Growth Fund (IGF), the Labor Government is helping outer-suburban communities build local infrastructure such as family and community centres, town centres, parks and reserves and playgrounds.
The project received its first round of Victorian Government funding in 2014, with $1 million dollars from the Community Infrastructure Fund. It has also received funding from the Federal Government, the Yarra Ranges Shire Council and an existing service provider at the site, Inspiro Health.
