Prep Students Mark First 100 Days At School
To mark the occasion, an electronic card congratulating Preps and their families is being sent to Victorian schools today.
Mr Merlino joined students and teachers at Westbreen Primary, congratulating the 51 Prep students by singing “happy 100 school days” and cutting the cake.
Mr Merlino also used the visit to celebrate the school’s $4 million upgrade, secured in the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.
The $4 million works will include the demolition and rebuild of buildings to provide six new classrooms, an art room and an administration area.
The 2015-16 Victorian Budget invests close to $4 billion in Victorian education and training – representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history.
The Budget provides $325 million to renovate, refurbish or rebuild 67 schools. It will fund the first stage of an extensive asbestos removal program so that families can be assured their children are being educated in safe schools.
It also includes $180 million for programs that will help families cover the extra costs of education, like camps, excursions and uniforms, so no child misses out.
