New Silvan station officially opened

The Silvan Fire Brigade is better equipped to respond to their next emergency with the official opening of their new station.

The Member for Monbulk and Deputy Premier, James Merlino, opened the new facility on behalf of the Minister for Emergency Services Jane Garrett.

The new $647,000 station was funded by the Victorian Government and replaces the brigade’s previous base that was built in 1991.

The new facility has a larger turnout area, improving safety for its 26 members.  It also includes a spacious meeting room and a breathing apparatus washing facility.

CFA currently has 1,223 fire stations, 882 of which are in rural areas of Victoria.

The Silvan Brigade was formed in 1944 and attends approximately thirty incidents per year.
