New Qualification For Aspiring Future School Leaders
Victoria’s aspiring school leaders will now have access to a new qualification that will help them prepare for the role of principal.
Minister for Education James Merlino today launched the new Graduate Certificate of Principal Preparation at the opening of the 2017 UP Program at the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership.
The course is a new feature of the UP Program, which has been offered for the past three years by Monash Education in partnership with the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership.
The Graduate Certificate of Principal Preparation will prepare teachers for their first principal position by giving them the skills they need to create a school culture that provides high quality educational opportunities for students.
The course will also give participants a firm grasp of leadership, management and administrative aspects of the role of principal.
It is anticipated that up to 640 aspiring principals from across the state will complete the course over the next four years.
The Andrews Labor Government has invested $5 billion to make Victoria the Education State, improving outcomes for every student, in every classroom, in every school and for all communities.
Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership was established in 2009 and plays a key role in implementing the Victorian Government’s Education State agenda.
