New Gym, Food And Music Spaces For Point Cook Students

Students at Alamanda K-9 College now have a new gym, food technology spaces, music facilities and classrooms, with an $8 million upgrade now complete.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited the Point Cook school to officially open the new facilities that will help the school cater to the booming student population.

Enrolment numbers have more than quadrupled from 371 students when the school opened in 2013, to 1595 students this year.

With construction now finished, work is underway on furnishing  the buildings for students to start using within weeks.

Alamanda K-9 College has also received two state of the art new relocatable buildings that will be ready to use by the start of the 2017 school year.

The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.

There are now 42 new government schools and hundreds of school upgrades in the construction pipeline following the Government’s record $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.

This school building boom will create 4000 construction jobs and ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.
